Want to Find Schools?

I have gotten a lot of questions recently asking what website I would recommend to families, clients, and associates to search schools in their area, so I thought I would do a small write up on what I recommend and why!

Every time someone asks, I tell them to use

“GreatSchools is a non-profit organization with profiles of more than 200,000 preK-12 schools – public, public charter and private – and over one million reviews from parents, teachers and students sharing information about the schools they know best.”

GreatSchools has been using the power of the Internet to help parents get more informed and engaged in their children’s education for over 15 years. The minds behind this great website have a simple mission: to help millions of parents get a great education for their children. GreatSchools offers useful, relevant, and reliable information for parents to rely on for choosing the best school for their children. Users can view official school profiles with the latest information directly from principals and school leaders, read over one million community reviews and star ratings, compare schools based on test scores and other available data, and utilize special information, activities and tools provided to foster learning in the home.

I like GreatSchools because I can help my buyer clients search their prospective areas for the best schools where they plan on moving. For a lot of families, good schools are a top priority and a make-or-break factor in if and where they choose to move. It also doesn’t hurt that the site has a smooth and easy-to-use layout that is also mobile-friendly, so I or my clients can use the resource on the go when looking at houses or out of the office. You can use the search bar on the home page to search by city, zip code, address, or just by entering a school’s name to get further information. And the best thing I’ve found about the site: the information is accurate. I know when I recommend anything to either a business associate or a client, I want that thing to be reliable, and not deceive with incorrect results.

If you follow social media, their Facebook and Twitter pages both have some great articles posted every day that are great in-depth reads on commuting for education, planning for college, exposing children to foreign languages early, and much more.

So there you have it! Altogether, I would definitely recommend, but some other sites such as can offer some similar features, and resources like and are great for choosing the best colleges.
